Irene Cochran Simonds, 74, of the Deep Creek Community, went home to be with her Lord, September 14th, 2012 at Mountain View Manor Nursing Home. A native of Swain County she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Luellar Cochran. She was a retired Housekeeper and loved to spend time cooking for others. She was a member of East Alarka Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years Neval Simonds; one granddaughter, Tonya Simonds of Bryson City; two sisters Lois Stanberry of Bryson City, and Ruby Parker and husband Bill of Sylva; a host of nieces and nephews; two special great great nieces Aleah and Hannah ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬Murajda who brought joy and happiness to her life.

She was preceded in death by her son Danny Simonds; one sister Edna Ward; and two nephews, Cliff Parker, and Newell Ward.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, September 17th, 2012 in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Tommy Ashe, Marty Pressley, and David Watkins will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 PM Monday at the Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be family members.
