BRYSON CITY…….DATELINE
MARJORIE PLACE DRENNAN, 83, passed away Thursday February 4, 2010.
Originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the
late James and Rena Rhinehart Place. After graduating from The
Philadelphia Institute of the Arts she moved to Fort Lauderdale,
Florida, where she met her future husband of 42 years, the late James
Drennan. While in Florida she volunteered her time by assisting the
elderly women of the local nursing home on outings, volunteered as a
Sunday School teacher and raised quarantined horses while showing them
her love and caring, but most importantly she raised her family with
love and respect. After her husband passed away she moved to Swain
County where she continued her passionate volunteering with Meals on
Wheels, Paws and as a Sunday School Teacher at the Bryson City
Presbyterian Church where she was also one of the first women elders
and a leader for the Presbyterian Synod. She also used her artistic
talent by creating backdrops at the Community Theater and also at the
Vacation Bible School at her Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Lynn Drennan of Bryson City and
her son, Greg David Drennan of Phoenix, Arizona.

Phillips and Melissa Dillon
2 Sisters- Helen Ullian and Shirley Masterson
A Memorial Service honoring Marj will be held Saturday February 13,
2010 at 2:00 PM at the Bryson City Presbyterian Church with the Rev.
Terry Hanna officiating. There will be a reception following the
service to greet the family in the Fellowship Hall.
In Lieu of flowers a donation to Paws or the Bryson City Presbyterian
Church is preferred.
