Rev. Jay Burnette, 93, of the Alarka Community, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday February 4, 2010 in a Swain County Health Care Facility.A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Fred and Mary Queen Burnette. He was ordained a FreewillBaptist Minister in 1948 and Pastored in several Churches in the area. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in WWII. He also was a carpenter and construction worker.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Ruth Greene Burnette

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. The Revs. Eugene Moore and Gary Moore will officiate with burial in Brendle Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday at the Funeral Home.
