Silas Edward Hampton Sr. 54, passed away Monday July 12, 2010 at his residence. He was the son of the late Edwin Perry Hampton and Elizabeth Louise and stepfather Jim Wilkes of Riverview, FLA. He had been residing in Swain County for the past 13 years and has previously had lived in Florida. Besides his father he was preceded in death by a brother Edwin Perry Hampton Jr. and a sister Beverly Yvonne Horne.
Besides his mother and step father he is survived by his wife of 39 years Deborah Hampton, two sons; Silas Hampton Jr. and wife Sharon of Bryson City, and Paul Christopher Hampton and his wife Michelle of Bryson City, one daughter; Tabitha Irene Medford and husband Jeffery of Bryson City, two sisters; Katherine Douglas and Edwina Vaughn both of Riverview, FLA, 9 grandchildren; Julia Austin, Sophia Medford, Silas Hampton III, Chastity Hampton, Jeremiah Hampton, Hunter Hampton, Alexis Hampton, Allison Hampton, and Paul Hampton Jr. two step grandchildren; Miranda Nations, and Johnathan Woodard, and a mother-in-law; Dorothy Sheffield of Brooksville, FLA.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Bernheisel officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00-2:00 PM prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
