Varnel Grant, 85, passed away at his residence, July 15, 2010.
A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Neviel C. and Ruth Holden Grant. He was retired from the U.S. Navy having served in WWII in Normandy with over 20 years of service.
He will be missed by his family and all his friends who came by and would rock on the porch with him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia.
He is survived by his two sons, Shawn D. Grant of Asheville, Keith V. Grant and his wife Joanne of Florida; daughter, Vicky Grant Drotzur of Bryson City; special grandson, SSG Varnel Drotzur of the US Army and wife Anna; and great grandchild, Alisyn Mae Drotzur.
As Varnel requested, no services will be planned.
