Mondee Monteith, 65, moved from his home in Bryson City to his Eternal Heavenly Home on March 30, 2015 to join his father William W. Monteith, mother Ella Cunningham Monteith and brothers Walt Patterson and Alan Monteith. Mondee is survived by his wife Patricia Bright Monteith; daughter, Kiristie Millsaps and husband Terry of Cramerton; sons, Christopher Monteith of Bryson City and Marvin Monteith and wife Brandy of Bryson City; and grandchildren, Amber, Logan, Layla, Carter, and Creed. There are two special young men Aaron and Alan Langston that were like sons to Mondee. One sister Nancy Wiggins of Bryson City and many nieces and nephews. Mondee was a graduate of Swain County High School in 1968 and obtained a forestry degree from Haywood Community College. Mondee was the owner of several businesses including Monteith Lumber Company and Bryson City IGA. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM at Mount Carmel Baptist Church where he was a lifelong member on Friday April 3, 2015. Revs. Tim Barker, Earl Holden, and Eddie Stillwell will officiate with burial in the Blankenship Cemetery. The family will receive friends starting at 6:00 PM on Thursday April 2, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bryson City Food Pantry PO Box 549 Bryson City, NC 28713, or Truitt Children's Home, 75 W. Vineyard Lane, Hayesville, NC 28904.
