Robert Thad Stanberry, 82, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Monday April 6, 2015 after a period of declining health. A native of Swain County he was the son of the late Wade and Maybell Sizemore Stanberry. He was a veteran of the Korean War having earned several medals including the Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by a baby sister and three brothers Verlon Stanberry, Troy Stanberry and Floyd Stanberry. He is survived by his children, Elaine (Claude) Smith, Judy (Richard) Webster, Jean Morgan, Dewey (Terrie) Stanberry and Bruce (Tammey) Stanberry; five granddaughters Annette Jakubac, Linette Kilby, Kimberly Rogers, Jennifer Webster and Roberta Woodard; four grandsons, Claude Ray Smith, Keith Allen, Jason Morgan and Brian Stanberry; 9 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; one sister Mary Ruth Hughes and two brothers, Ben Stanberry and Norman Stanberry. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Ray Ball will officiate with military graveside rites conducted in the Lauada Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home. Our dad (Pops) liked to fish and trade a lot and will be sorely missed.
