Obituary of Marian Cecelia Holley

Please share a memory of Marian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marian C. Holley, born June 25th, 1922, of Whittier passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, May 19th, 2015. Raised as a Nebraska farm girl, Marian proudly served in the US Navy overseas during WWII. Eventually she settled in Florida and worked at the Kennedy Space Center. Marian retired from a career with the Army Corp of Engineers and enjoyed 30 years of retirement. She spent those three decades traveling, quilting and being an active church member. Marian found that the key to life was to stay strong and busy. She made several hundred quilts for the Appalachian children of West Virginia. Marian participated in the Senior Games offered through the Swain Rec. Dept. She enjoyed her friends at her church and loved her time spent with them. Marian was quick to smile and will be dearly missed. Marian is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Riggs of Tazwell, TN, Ava Holley of Orlando, FL, and Renae Dotson and husband Woody of Whittier. She will also be missed by her living grandchildren, Joe Rodriguez of Kingsland, GA, Jessica Gilmore of Jemez Springs, NM and Hayden Lindquist of Bryson City. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, May 28th at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
