David Lloyd Watkins, 91, went home to be with the Lord at his home July 20, 2015 after a long illness.
Born March 1, 1924 to the late Dolph and Hattie Crisp Watkins, he is also preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Evelyn Carver Watkins and wife, Myrtle Otter Watkins; two sons, Larry and James Watkins and two great grandsons, Josh and Casey Gantt.
He is survived by one sister, Euna Watkins Barnes of Gastonia, NC; six sons and one daughter, Chester (Drama) of Bryson City, Lloyd of Bryson City, Judy Watkins Poindexter (Eugene) of Charlotte, NC, Benny of SC, Steve (Janie) of SC, Mike of VA, Ricky (Trish) of Hickory, NC; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; seven nephews and one niece; granddaughter and caregiver, Diane Watkins who spent much quality time making sure he was cared for and put first.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday at Birdtown Cemetery. Rev. Randall Watkins will officiate.
Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
