Obituary of Evelyn Walls

EVELYN MARIE CRAYTON WALLS Bryson City, NC. On October 9, 2015, Evelyn C. Walls, 88, passed away at Mountain View Manor Nursing Center. She was born in Salisbury, NC, on January 30, 1927, but was a resident of Hampton, VA, most of her life. After retiring from Hampton City Public Schools where she served as a bus driver for 40 years, she moved to Bryson City, NC. Evelyn will be remembered for her kind and gentle ways, her love of music, and her love of, and strong faith in God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman S. (Jack) Walls, Sr.; her mother and father, Beadie A Crayton and Charles E. Crayton, Sr.; and a brother, Riley S. Crayton. Survivors include her son, Thurman S. (Jack) Walls, Jr. and wife Barbara of Bryson City; three daughters, Judy Walls-Clark and husband Neil of Poquoson, VA, Jackie Walls-Cherry and husband, O. L. (Butch) of Suffolk, VA, and Jeanne Walls and husband David Debarger of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Elizabeth A. Martin and husband Floyd of Grafton, VA, and Carolyn Costa of Newport News, VA; two brothers, Charles E. Crayton, Jr. and wife Sammie of Gloucester, VA, and Ronald T. Crayton and wife Linda of Gloucester, VA; three grandchildren, Lori Cherry and husband Steve, Brian Thomas and wife Jenny, and Suzi Anderson and husband Greg; five great-grandchildren, Brandon Aliff, Austin Phillips, and Sloane, Reese and Quinn Anderson; also, special friend and guardian angel Sophia Brown and family of Bryson City. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mountain View Manor Nursing Center for their concern and loving care of Evelyn for the past four years. Also, they would like to thank Harris LIFEPATH Hospice staff for their recent care. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Crisp Funeral Home. Service be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Crisp Funeral Home, with Pastor Max Cochran officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Bryson City.
