Sarah Evelyn Greene Woody passed away March 29th at her home surrounded by loved ones. Evelyn was born February 17, 1938, to Glen and Dessie (Jones) Greene of the Alarka Community. She was a lifelong resident of Swain County. She was an avid gardener with a talent for growing vegetables, and beautiful flowers. She was a wonderful cook who loved to feed her family and friends. She worked in retail for many years at The Totem Pole in Cherokee, and Bertha’s Flower Shop in Bryson City. Her employers were like family to her. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Woody, son Richard Woody, grandson Marc Woody, siblings Juanita (Walker) Milliner, Barbara (Earnest) Maney, Joe Greene, Glenith (JC) Price, and a sister-in-law Jean Greene. She is survived by her daughters Cindy (Alan) Lawson of Summerville SC, Robin Conner of Bryson City, Karen Woody of Whittier, and Linda Woody of Bryson City. 12 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday at Crisp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Barker will officiate with burial at Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
