Obituary of Larry Junior Wiggins

Larry Junior Wiggins, 74, of Bryson City has gone to his forever home, after an extended illness. He was at home surrounded by his loving family when he passed, on, May 2, 2024. Larry was born November 23, 1949, to the late Emmitt Wayne Wiggins and Hazel Edna Carson Wiggins. Larry was an active member of the community and was involved with the Swain County Rescue Squad for many years. He also loved to fish, birdwatch, and spend time with his family. Larry was an active member of Governors Island Baptist Church and played his guitar for the church choir. He retired from the NCDOT after 38 years of service as an Assistant Resident Engineer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years and the mother of his children, Ellen Jenkins Wiggins; and an infant sister Kathy Lynn Wiggins. He is survived by his wife of 8 years Pansie Ruth Downs Wiggins; 2 children Heather Wiggins Allen (Leon), and Brandon Wiggins (Angela); 4 children of the heart Chris Davis (Dedra),Misty Everling (Guy), Jeff Davis (Nan), Tonya Webb (Buck); 2 sisters: Ann Wiggins Cochran, and Betty Wiggins Merriman; 13 Grandchildren: Cameron, Kendra, Maddie, Katie, Dylan, Danner, Mallory, Hannah, Emma, Julia, Brendan, Jax, and Noah; 2 great-grandchildren Evelyn and Tanner; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. Funeral Services will be held at the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home Tuesday May 7, 2024, at 1pm with the Rev. Justin Ledford and Patrick Odell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Cameron Wiggins, Dylan Smith, Scott Cochran, Roger Hornsby, Charles Owle, and Tim Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are the Swain County Rescue Squad.
